PATHWAYS TO HELP

Resources for You

At CARITAS, we know that healing and rebuilding take many forms—and no one should have to navigate that journey alone. Whether you’re seeking shelter, recovery options, or a place to give back, these local resources can help guide your next step.

HOMELESSNESS RESOURCES

→ The Greater Richmond Continuum of Care (GRCoC) seeks to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness through effective and coordinated community-wide efforts and services.

Homeward, the planning & coordinating organization for homeless services in the Greater Richmond Region, maintains a comprehensive list of regional resources.

→ The Virginia Department of Social Services is one of the largest Commonwealth agencies, partnering with 120 local departments of social services, along with faith-based and non-profit organizations, to promote the well-being of children and families statewide.

United Way 211 is the most comprehensive source of information about local resources and services in the country. Get help paying bills, finding food, and locating other resources near you by calling 211.

→ The Partnership for Housing Affordability is dedicated to transforming the landscape of housing in our region. As the leading policy organization in the Richmond region, their work is steeped in collaboration, education, and data-driven solutions that help address Richmond’s most deeply rooted needs.

RECOVERY RESOURCES

→ Every individual is different and, so is their recovery. While certain interventions may work well for some, The Healing Place model is a non-medical approach that may work for people who have tried other options.

→ If The Healing Place isn’t the fit for you or your loved one, there are many resources in the Greater Richmond area. View the Richmond/Henrico Regional Resource Guide to Substance Use and Mental and Behavioral Health here.

→ View the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences’s complete list of accredited recovery residences here.

FAMILY RESOURCES

Substance Use Disorder is a disease that truly impacts the whole family. Everyone affected needs support, care, and healing. CARITAS is committed to connecting you with education, support, and resources to feel more equipped to cope with a loved one’s substance use as you embark on your own healing journey.

Have a Loved One In Our Program?
You are invited to join us for a virtual orientation session to learn more about The Healing Place program. We will offer an overview of our services, as well as discuss ways to support yourself and your loved one during this journey. This is FREE and open to all who would like to learn more. Contact Anna Murphy at amurphy@caritasva.org or (804) 401-8671 for additional information or to sign up.

Family Education Program
The Family Education Program is a collaborative effort with Northstar Community dedicated to providing quality education and support to families of substance users in our community through regular meetings and programs. These are free and open to anyone with a loved one who may be suffering from substance use disorder. We meet virtually every Thursday at 6:30 PM.
