Forklift Training
A SIX-HOUR TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION COURSE FOR SIT-DOWN FORKLIFT OPERATION
CARITAS offers workforce development through the CARITAS Works program, including a six-hour training and certification course for sit-down forklift operation (powered industrial trucks). These six-hour courses are available year-round. Participants who pass the course and exam receive a certificate valid in Virginia.

CLASS PARTICIPANTS WILL
- Learn to operate powered industrial trucks and forklifts
- Understand and utilize OSHA standards for operating forklifts
- Learn about the different types of forklifts and how to correctly perform pre- and post-operation inspections
- Drive, park, load, inspect, and stabilize forklifts
- Understand safety procedures and operator warnings for forklifts
- Develop and utilize a daily checklist for forklifts

Registration
Registration opens on the 1st of each month for that month’s class.
A $95 fee (+ $3.32 for credit/debit card fees) is required at registration. Classes fill quickly, so call early to secure your spot and be ready with your payment when you call.
2026 Training Dates
All trainings are from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 2220 Stockton St., Richmond, VA 23224. All training materials will be provided.
